BAND Childcare & Playwork Training: Comprehensive Courses for Bristol Providers

Training for Childcare & Playwork in Bristol. BAND provides training on subjects relevant to play and childcare workers, managers and management committee members.

Training 2026

As some of you will be aware, BAND has not been delivering any training during the first three months of this year. This was due to Bristol City Council deciding not to continue funding for this service and instead choosing to take it in house. We have received feedback from providers about the training that they need to support sustainability, resilience and development and to meet their statutory requirements. These are fundamental for childcare providers to be able to continue to deliver their services.

In response to this, BAND are going to offer sector specific single agency courses for settings.

After consultation with our managing body, it has been decided that BAND will fundraise independently to subsidise course places.
We are doing this to ensure that every setting has an equal opportunity to access training at an affordable cost.
We will ensure that the training we deliver is high quality and recognised and to this end we are going to be getting our training accredited something that we have not done before.

New Booking System

We now have an automated book system and are using Book When. We have tested this and it would appear to be a simple system for bookings, but if you have any issues or questions please contact us directly at admin@bandltd.org.uk or 0117 9542128.

To help us plan future courses, please keep telling us about your training needs, if you are unable to access a course we will add you to the waiting list for the next available course: admin@bandltd.org.uk

Please Note

We will keep course content and costs under continuous review, it may be that we will have to raise costs going forward but we will always endeavour to keep our costs as low as possible, we will communicate any increase to charges in a timely manner.
Please note that we will not routinely refund the cost of a place, the only exception to this will be if we receive adequate notice of cancellation to enable us to fill the place.
Each setting will be able to book two places on a course.

Courses Available Now

We have already secured funding to enable us to deliver 3 Paediatric First Aid courses in April, May and June 2026. As these have been fully funded we will be offering these free of charge. The first course in April is fully booked as we allocated places to settings who were on our waiting list previously.
